On Christmas Eve, a little cricket finds its way into a house where its singing is thought to be the voice of an angel.|Counter Cricket feels small and worthless until he hop-hops into a house on Christmas Eve. He finds a nice place to hide behind an angel decoration on the Christmas tree, and begins to sing. Human voices interrupt his song, and scare Cricket into silence. Then both the little voice and the bigger one decide it must have been the angel singing. Hearing this, Cricket doesn't feel worthless anymore. The voices break into a carol, and Cricket joins in with his own unique song. This is an original Christmas story for the very young, told with Eve Bunting's customary warmth and charm.
